Unless you're a hardcore Aerosmith fangirl, you can stop reading this right now and go download a few extra songs for Guitar Hero 3 and save yourself some cash because really this game offers few new elements and its thirty-odd songs are definitely not worth the cost of a whole new game. The Aerosmith Guitar Hero game isn't much more than Guitar Hero 3 with a few extra character models, slathered with the band's paraphernalia.
You Aerosmith fans who are still reading will be pleased to hear that this game really is all about the band. Snippets of interviews with Tyler and crew, Joe Perry solo music and motion-captured performances may make the steep price worth your while. And I was very pleased to see that the inordinate amount of ridiculously hard achievements have been decreased and these points are much more attainable. Guitar Hero stardom is now within everyone's reach, though you'll mostly be playing Aerosmith songs with a few songs by their peers. Though jamming to Run DMC's Walk This Way at least makes this game a quick rental. All of Aerosmith's songs were recorded for the game, so they sound great and even the lesser hardcore fans will get a kick out of enjoying Joe Perry's riffs. I only wish the Aerosmith songs had been available as downloadable content instand of forcing us to spend our precious gaming pennies on another full priced game. Even Guitar Hero 80s encore offered some new outfits with a new theme.
