Chick Who Doesn't Play
Holly Slough - Student of Learning
Age: 24 - Milwaukee, WI, USA

Holly is a connoisseur of anything orange, fluffy, and kitten like. She has been known to get her game on with the Zelda series and had a brief period of time where she watched her brother play all of metal gear solid 2. Since then Holly has gotten hooked on the Sims series and hasn't looked back since. Let's give a standing ovation to our third Chick who doesn't play. Holly Slough.

CDG: What type of games do you play?

Holly: I have always been drawn to the Sims games as I was growing up. Even though, in our household, we had virtually every video game system and games I wasn’t allowed to play most of them (because when I was around 9 years old I accidentally erased a “very important game”). So, when I was allowed to play I chose games such as the standard Zelda and Mario games and Sim Earth.

CDG: What attracts you to the Sim games?

Holly: As Chuck Klosterman puts it “The Sims is an escapist vehicle for people who want to escape to where they already are, which is why I thought this game was made precisely for me.” It lets you see a life if you didn’t have any stress or problems in it, it gives you a life with a very vague realistic aspect to it and a lot of fantasy. It has kind of always been a way to pass time mindlessly but it is still fun nonetheless.

CDG: Favorite Sims game?

Holly: My favorite all time Sims game is The Urbz (poke fun all you want but I find it enjoyable) I seem to like this one the most because it focus’ more on relationships and less on the money aspect and the building mode. I HAVE ALWAYS HATED BUILDING MODE. Unless it was for decoration purposes only. I hate going to work for 2 week just to buy a couch when I already have a couch (ahhh the realistic aspect of your fake existence). I would rather buy a hot tube and throw a party (and the fantasy).

CDG: Least Favorite Sim game?

Holly: Well, I just started to play Sims2 Castaway for Ps2. I find this game boring and a little on the hard side. Now I am not complaining that it is too hard to play but there are so many requirements to fulfill such as: hunger and bladder (with about 5 extra ones than they normally make you fullfill) and you seem to spend most of the time trying to make your Sim a little happy, but they usually are depressed. Plus, it is all building and such (see my feelings about building mode above) and there is no relationship aspects. Sure you can talk to the monkey but you can’t marry him or anything…..Which would have totally redeemed this game. And another thing that bothered me (I have a lot more rants about this game and could go on forever) was that the clothing choices were not very elaborate. I have always loved making my character and this gave you almost no options.

CDG: How could the Sims be improved?

Holly:I think they should make a Sims game for Xbox 360. Then you could talk to other Sims and actually be talking to other people. This is something I would enjoy.

This girl kicked my ass in gaming, watch out!! I love you Holly!
